However, I came across two anti-hair fall shampoos from the brands Herbal Essences and Loreal which helped me combat my hair fall problems.
Although Herbal Essence’s shampoo prevailed over Loreal’s Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo in terms of reducing my hair fall I decided to share my review on both shampoos to help you guys choose according to your preferences.

About Herbal Essences
Herbal Essences is a renowned hair care brand that’s part of the Procter and Gamble product portfolio.
In Herbal Essence’s product line you’ll find an assortment of hair care products like shampoos, conditioners, hair oil, hair masks, and other hair styling products.
My favorite aspect of the Herbal Essences brand is that all of their hair products are formulated with the goodness of natural ingredients like aloe vera, coconut milk, green tea, argan oil, honey, etc.
Herbal Essence also provides a collection of sulfate-free products. The hair care brand is cruelty-free and also promotes reforestation programs.
About L’oreal
Loreal was founded in France by a chemist named Eugene Schueller. The first-ever product developed by Eugene was a hair dye and it was named ‘Oreale’.
Over the course of years, Oreale was renamed ‘Loreal’ and the brand thrived to become the world’s largest cosmetic company by marketing a massive collection of products including hair colors, shampoos, conditioners, makeup, creams, perfumes, etc.
There are countless hair care products offered by Loreal that are aimed at combatting serious hair problems like hair fall, dandruff, dry and damaged and color-treated hair, etc.
Loreal hair care products are promoted towards all genders, races, hair types, and textures, and the pricing strategies of Loreal products range from affordable to high-end.
Herbal Essences vs Loreal – Price Comparison
Looking at the pricing ranges of both brands I didn’t notice much of a difference. However, some premium products from Herbal Essences and Loreal that cater to intense hair concerns are quite expensive.
Ingredients
There’s a major polarity between the ingredients incorporated in both brands. While Herbal Essences solely focuses on utilizing natural ingredients in its formula, Loreal products only contain a few natural ingredients and a whole lot of preservatives and vitamins.
Product Ranges
Loreal definitely wins this one as it offers a wide range of products like shampoos, conditioners, hair creams, masks, hair colors, and styling products for both men and women catered for different hair textures and concerns.
Herbal Essences also does provide various products like shampoos, conditioners, masks, and creams for all hair types curly, straight, damaged, colored, etc.
Ethics & Environmental Friendly Values
Herbal Essences not only focus on being gentle on our hair but also on the planet as well. It’s a loyal member of PETA and partakes in reforestation programs to save endangered plants and minimizes wastage. Most of the Herbal Essences products are free from parabens, sulfate, and mineral oil.
Loreal is the polar opposite of Herbal Essences as it still tests its products on animals, uses chemical ingredients, and has little concern about promoting environmentally friendly approaches.
Herbal Essences Aloe+Eucalyptus Sulfate-Free Shampoo vs Loreal Paris Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo
Like I mentioned above, I experienced severe hair fall problems that whenever I brush my hair I’ll end up having a floccus of strands. Additionally, I also had a flaky scalp which was contributing to my hair fall as well.
The two products that came to my rescue were Herbal Essences Aloe + Eucalyptus Sulfate-Free shampoo and Loreal Paris Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall shampoo.
I used them both for a couple of months and analyzed the results I witnessed on my hair and scalp. Hence, I compared and reviewed the most prominent attributes of the shampoos below so that you can pick the ideal shampoo brand for you.
Herbal Essences Aloe+Eucalyptus Sulfate-Free Shampoo 400 ml | Loreal Paris Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo 360 ml | |

Ingredients:
Herbal Essences shampoo’s prime ingredient is aloe vera which is a renowned hair-beneficial ingredient that helps with a lot of hair problems.
I was honestly surprised to see how the flakiness reduced on my scalp within a week of use and it also hydrated my hair and made it very smooth. Eucalyptus extract and peppermint oil are proven to cure an itchy scalp and contribute to strong hair growth.
On the other hand, Loreal Paris Fall Repair shampoo consists of arginine which is an amino acid that’s beneficial for hair growth, repair, and reduction of hair fall.
It stimulates the scalp and strengthens the roots and salicylic acid reduces dandruff and balances the scalp.
However, Loreal Paris Fall Repair Shampoo doesn’t contain any natural ingredients like the Herbal Essences shampoo. Furthermore, both shampoos are free from sulfate and parabens hence there’s no risk of hair damage.
Price:
In terms of price, the Loreal shampoo was only $10 more than the Herbal Essences shampoo and I bought them both for discounted prices on Amazon.
Texture:
Both shampoos had contrasting textures which took me a while to adjust. Herbal Essences shampoo had a thin liquid texture that only required a few drops of water to lather.
However, Loreal shampoo had a thick liquid texture which required more water to apply to the mane. Furthermore, it also didn’t create much lather when applied to the hair.
Results on my hair:
After using the Herbal Essences shampoo I noticed a major difference on my scalp. It didn’t flake as much and was neither too dry nor oily.
Although I didn’t have an itchy scalp it definitely helped balance my scalp. My hair felt smooth after every wash and I loved how the eucalyptus fragrance lingered on my hair.
With the Loreal shampoo, I didn’t notice any results on my scalp but my hair fall reduced significantly. My locks felt strong and they weren’t dull-looking or damaged again.
Packaging:
Herbal Essence shampoo came in a beautiful emerald-colored plastic bottle and had a flip lid. After closing the lid was tightly shut hence there weren’t leakages.
The Loreal shampoo bottle is pink and black colored which had a flip lid as well. In terms of packaging, both shampoos were attractive.
Is Herbal Essences Or Loreal Better for Hair Loss?
Choosing between Herbal Essences and L’Oreal for hair fall control depends on individual preferences and hair needs. Both brands offer a variety of products targeting hair fall, and the effectiveness can vary depending on personal factors such as hair type, scalp condition, and sensitivity to certain ingredients.
If you prefer products with a focus on natural ingredients, Herbal Essences might be a suitable choice for you. Their formulations often include botanical extracts and essential oils that are known for their nourishing and strengthening properties. Additionally, Herbal Essences products are generally more affordable and widely available.
On the other hand, if you prefer products with advanced technologies and scientific formulations, L’Oreal could be a better option. L’Oreal offers a diverse range of hair care products backed by extensive research and development. Their formulations may incorporate patented ingredients and innovative technologies aimed at addressing specific hair concerns, including hair fall.
Ultimately, it’s essential to consider your hair type, preferences, and any specific concerns you have when selecting a hair care brand.
Which Brand Is Better: Herbal Essences vs Loreal?
After purchasing shampoos from Herbal Essences and Loreal and looking at the pricing ranges of both brands I must say that there’s not a big difference. Both brands are affordable and they offer diverse products for different uses.
However, when it comes to hair safety and ingredients, Herbal Essences has more concern than Loreal as all Herbal Essences products contain natural and hair-beneficial ingredients.
Moreover, based on my experience I would choose Herbal Essences Aloe+Eucalyptus shampoo over Loreal Paris Fall Repair shampoo because I love all things natural and it balanced my scalp as stated.
