Herbal Essences Vs Dove

I used both shampoos for a duration of 3 months each to find out which one was better. I found the ingredients of Herbal Essences way better than Dove as it’s 90% derived from plants and contains no sulphate, silicones or parabens. In Dove shampoo, I found sulphates that lead my scalp to dry within a day of shampoo.

Both the brand’s shampoos have good effectiveness, lather well and cleanse all the dirt from hair and scalp. They were also pretty gentle on my scalp and didn’t cause any rash after the usage.

Herbal Essences Shampoo

However, I found Herbal Essences shampoo to have an extremely soothing fragrance that lingers in your head for a good 3-4 days. I loved the smell even though it was high but not overpowering. I also received several compliments because of it.

Dove shampoo in that case, has a very subtle smell like any other shampoo in the commercial market. It didn’t appeal to me as much and lasted for only 2 days at max.

Also, Dove is not color-safe. My hair dye faded in just two-three washes. Herbal Essence is color safe and in fact, brought a great lustre to my hair.

With regards to quantity and prices, it’s very evident that Herbal Essences have better quantity and price. They even have smaller and travel-size bottles. A 29.2 fl oz bottle comes for an affordable price of $7.98 whereas a Dove shampoo of 20.4 fl oz comes for $8.99.

Dove shampoo bottles also come in 3 sizes but the smallest size isn’t travel-friendly.

Conclusion: Which Brand’s Better?

It’s hard to determine which brand is better just for its effectiveness on the scalp and hair as each person has a different hair type. What might work out for me, might not work out well for others.

But after the standard comparison, considering different factors like fragrance, color safety, quantity as well price I found Herbal Essences to be way better. I noticed that Herbal Essences are not so easily available in drugstores or daily grocery stores so in that case, you can go for Dove as well.

If we declare a clear, one-shot winner I’d definitely give it to Herbal Essences as it’s a great brand that promotes healthy hair, and sustainability, and also cares about nature.
