Are the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo Ingredients suitable for hair? Check out the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo review to find out!
From hair styling products like mousses, gels, pomades, hair sprays and hair waxes, to hair care products like serums and hair oils, I have tried them all!
Yes, I am a huge fan of experimenting with different products for my hair every now and then, but now my scalp is paying the heavy price!
My scalp has succumbed to excessive buildup formation, because of which my hair tends to get greasy in no time. I have also noticed how dull, flat and lifeless my hair looks; while my roots stand utterly limp.

My hair had lost all its lustre and I had to find a way to bring it back to life. Well, while I did cut down on the use of hair products, I also tried out a few clarifying shampoos to help get rid of the buildup.
While a few of those clarifying shampoos did not work on my hair or dried out my hair too much, the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo was definitely a review-worthy one.
So you guys, here’s my review!

Water in most hair care products (and other cosmetics) is the chief component of the formula as it’s the solvent which dissolves all the other ingredients.
The water used in hair care products is sterile and deionized. This means there are no minerals in this water as they can interfere with the other ingredients.
Water-based hair products, especially conditioners are lighter, spread easily and help hydrate your hair if there are humectants (like glycerin, etc.) present in the formula.
Sodium C12-13 Pareth Sulfate
This ingredient is used as a surfactant in shampoos. It helps generate lather, clarify surfaces by removing oil, dirt and grime and also increase thickness of hair products.
Sodium C12-13 Pareth Sulfate is generally less irritating than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and the Cosmetic Ingredient Review says that it is “non-irritating” when formulated right. It also doesn’t lead to skin irritation like other, harsher sulfates do.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Cocamidopropyl Betaine or CAPB is a type of cleanser that is derived from coconut oil.
It’s often used in shampoos in place of harsh surfactants like Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Both of which can strip hair dye, remove moisture and irritate scalp skin.
CAPB however is milder and gentler and even has moisturizing properties.
Most sulfate-free shampoos do not lather well or clean hair very thoroughly but as this shampoo contains this natural cleanser, it’s very good for removing grease and dirt from deep within your scalp without stripping it of moisture.
Sodium Chloride
Do you wonder how your shampoos and conditioners get a thick consistency? Well, it’s all thanks to the sodium chloride or salt that is added to it.
But using sodium chloride on the hair can tend to make the hair very dry over time and it can also lead to scalp itchiness and hair fall in the long run.
Apart from being thickening agents, sodium chloride can also be used as a cleansing agent.
Sodium Benzoate
Sodium Benzoate is a common preservative used in shampoos and other hair care products as it has antimicrobial properties that helps control mold and bacteria.
It is generally considered harmless if used in lower concentrations. However, there is a chance that Sodium Benzoate turns into benzene in the formulation and Benzene is a known carcinogen. So a lot of brands are now turning away from using Sodium Benzoate in their products.
Limonene
Limonene is a compound that is found in the essential oil of the citrus peel extract. It has a variety of uses but in shampoos it is essentially added as a fragrance.
This ingredient is safe for use on skin and does not harm hair or scalp in any way. However there is some research suggesting that limonene can cause skin irritation when applied on sensitive areas for if it goes inside your eye by accident.
Product Review: Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo
If you want to say goodbye to flat, dull hair and limp roots, then this shampoo should be your go-to choice!
I simply love this product as it works perfectly on my curly hair. I have been using this shampoo for over three months now and I can truly say that my scalp feels so much lighter, as compared to before I used this product.
It works as a good hair cleanser and got rid of the buildup to a great extent, without stripping away too much of the moisture from my hair (unlike other clarifying shampoos). The little moisture loss is something I expected, considering the type of shampoo this is.
Since it is a clarifying shampoo, I make sure to use a good hair mask (the following day) once I have used this product. I do this so that my hair regains its hydration.
Even though this shampoo states “Daily” Clarifying shampoo, I only use it once every week and follow it up with a hair mask.
It can be used with the Suave Daily Clarifying Conditioner, but I haven’t personally tried it out, as I use my regular hair conditioner.
After using this shampoo, I noticed a few good changes in my scalp and hair. Firstly, my scalp felt fresh and my previously clogged hair follicles opened up, giving way for new hair to grow.
Secondly, since it got rid of the dirt and product buildup, my hair became less greasy, my roots were no longer limp and my curls were no longer flat. Yes, this shampoo did bring back life to my locs!
I paid $9.99 for this shampoo bottle of 665 ml (22.5 Fl. oz.) which I felt was super worth it, considering the good results I got after using this shampoo.
Pros and Cons of this Suave Shampoo
Pros:
· Works as a great scalp cleanser and gets rid of dirt, grime and buildup.
· Opens up clogged hair follicles and can stimulate hair growth.
· Can help rejuvenate dull and lifeless hair, bringing back hair lustre.
· It can help get rid of root limpness.
· This shampoo is very reasonably priced for the quantity of product you get.
Cons:
· May dry your hair out to a certain extent, but not too much, like other harsh clarifying shampoos.
Should I Use The Suave Daily Clarifying Conditioner Along with this Shampoo?
You will require to wet your hair properly with plain water. I’d suggest you use lukewarm water, so that your hair cuticles can open up and can absorb the shampoo better, making the product work more effectively.
Then, take a sufficient amount of shampoo between your palms, rub your palms together and apply it all over your scalp and hair evenly.
Next, gently massage it in and leave it on for 2 minutes for better effects. Then, wash it off under running water and condition your hair using the Suave Daily Clarifying Conditioner or any other conditioner of your choice (I used my old conditioner and it hydrated my hair just fine).
I’d recommend using cool or cold water on your hair while rinsing off the conditioner, so that the moisture gets sealed into your hair strands.
The product label of this shampoo states “daily” clarifying, but I personally used this shampoo just once a week (while the rest of my hair washes are with my regular cleansing shampoo).
Also, using a hair mask a day after using this shampoo is recommended to regain hair hydration.
My Ratings of the Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo
Hair cleansing ability | 4.4/5 |
Gentleness on the scalp and hair | 4.2/5 |
Effectiveness of the product | 4.4/5 |
Pricing | 4.4/5 |
The final takeaway
On an overall basis, I can definitely say that this product lived up to my expectations and was by far one of the best clarifying shampoos I have ever used.
It didn’t dry out my hair extensively, while it actually showed results as promised. It got rid of my scalp and hair buildup considerably and brought back life to my locs.
I’d definitely recommend this shampoo to anyone looking for a mild clarifying shampoo, with powerful effects.
