Product Comparison – Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo Vs MoroccanOil Shampoo

Here is my review of two shampoos that I tried from these brands.

I had tried the Moroccanoil Purple Shampoo in the past for when my hair was dyed blonde and it worked wonders on my hair and got rid of the brassy tones within just a few washes. So I was pretty certain that this smoothing shampoo too would be good.

Well, it absolutely was! I loved the fact that it reduced the static in my hair and brought down my frizziness considerably. It hydrated my hair to a great extent and that reduced the dryness.

So when my hair was no longer too dry, the frizz also reduced over time. Also, my hair felt smoother and much softer with just a few washes. I actually saw results much earlier than I had expected!

It also renewed my hair shine and brought back lustre to my locs. So this is something I loved about this product. My hair feels way more manageable now than ever!

The shampoo contained no sulfates and felt super gentle on my hair and sensitive scalp. It also cleansed my scalp and hair well.

moroccan oil vs kerastase shampoo

The smell of this shampoo was super amazing and mild, just how I like it. It made my hair smell so heavenly and fresh once it dried up.

The only thing what I didn’t like about this shampoo was its price. In my opinion, it was really too expensive, even though it was a 1 litre bottle. I for sure overpaid!

To be honest, I would have stuck to buying the Moroccanoil Smoothing Shampoo again because of how much I loved it and how well it worked on my hair.

moroccan oil review

The only reason I chose the Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo was that the shampoo I wanted was out of stock for quite a while and I didn’t even find it in my local store.

So that’s when I did some research and found another frizz-reduction shampoo, the Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo.

redken vs living proof dry shampoo

Well, since the Moroccanoil Smoothing Shampoo had done a great job at reducing my frizz, this shampoo had to only maintain my hair.

What I found is that it didn’t really maintain it too well. It did a pretty average job. I felt like it dried my hair out a little, even though it contained no sulfates.

But it felt gentle on the scalp and didn’t make my scalp itch. So that was not bad. Also, it did a good job at cleansing my hair and scalp. The scent of this shampoo was very average too. It was pleasant, but not to my liking.

What I didn’t like was that the description of the shampoo stated that it was liquid in consistency, but when I got the product, it felt like a thick cream or lotion.

redken vs moroccan oil shampoo

This made it hard to apply on the hair and I had to dilute it each time with a lot of water for it to lather.

Coming to the pricing, my opinion would be that it is expensive and I honestly think that I paid too much for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you use Moroccanoil and Redken shampoos?

You can use both these shampoos just how you’d use any other cleansing shampoo.

Wet your hair well, evenly apply the shampoo all over your hair and leave it in for a few minutes before thoroughly washing it off. Make sure to condition after.

Tip: For the Redken shampoo, you can dilute it with a little water for easier application.

As a shampoo brand, Moroccanoil vs. Redken, which would you pick?

Overall, I would definitely pick the Moroccanoil brand if I had to buy one of these two shampoo brands again.

I loved every single aspect of the Moroccanoil shampoo I tried, from its frizz-taming power to it bringing lustre and life back to my locs and it also helped soften, moisturize and smoothen my hair very well.

It also had better and more hydrating ingredients as compared to the Redken shampoo.

Summary: Moroccanoil vs. Redken

Overall, we can definitely conclude that both these brands are pretty much at par with each other. Both these brands have haircare and hair styling products in common. While Moroccanoil has body care products as well, Redken has hair coloring products that Moroccanoil lacks.

So in my opinion, I definitely would consider both these brands as good options to purchase any products from, because of their wide range and variety of products available.
