Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Cocamidopropyl Betaine or CAPB is a type of cleanser that is derived from coconut oil.
It’s often used in shampoos in place of harsh surfactants like Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Both of which can strip hair dye, remove moisture and irritate scalp skin.
CAPB however is milder and gentler and even has moisturizing properties.
Most sulfate-free shampoos do not lather well or clean hair very thoroughly but as this shampoo contains this natural cleanser, it’s very good for removing grease and dirt from deep within your scalp without stripping it of moisture.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
I know, I know. The shampoo contains sulfates. But as far as surfactants go, Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) is slightly milder and less irritating than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).
Okay so think of this way, SLS is the worst offending surfactant which can lead to redness, dryness, irritation, etc. on skin. SLES isn’t as bad but it can trigger irritation if you have sensitive scalps, Ammonium lauryl sulfate is generally safer and mild.
While most coconut-derived surfactants like cocamide MEA, etc. are known to be safe on sensitive skin as well.
So SLES is fantastic for cleaning your scalp of debris, dirt, excess oil and product buildup, but it can strip hair dye so it shouldn’t be used on color-treated hair.
If you’re wondering why this was included in a hair fall control shampoo, here’s the logic behind it.
Sometimes, hair fall can be because your hair root is weakened due to dandruff, buildup, etc. This buildup prevents nutrients from reaching your hair follicles and also stops hair products like oils, serums, etc. to reach the root.
So a strong surfactant can clarify your scalp, clearing the way for hair fall medication like serums, etc. to reach your follicles and help them get adequate nutrition.
Panthenol
Panthenol is a fantastic anti-inflammatory and soothing agent.
According to a study, panthenol is also supposed to prevent trans-epidermal water loss. So in layman’s terms it reduces moisture loss from hair and skin cells.
Another study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information confirms that panthenol is also an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces redness and irritation on the scalp.
There is also research that suggests that panthenol can help reduce thinning of hair.
My Review Of The Lashbox Los Angeles Bubble Lash Shampoo
I always never felt the need to use a cleansing product specifically for my eyes and whatever face wash I used in the past usually did the trick. Then, I noticed a number of eyelash shampoos and was tickled by this concept-A cleanser geared just for lashes?
But it would be wrong to quickly judge without trying this product, that's exactly what I did. Here is my experience-
Lash Box Los Angeles Bubble Lash Shampoo is the perfect alternative to eye-makeup remover for your lash extensions, because it is very gentle on both sensitive eyes and your lashes.
I ordered mine which was 150ml in size from lashboxla.com for 17 dollars and I fell head over heels in love with everything. It is the perfect size to travel with and carry around.
For starters, can we talk about the adorable packaging it comes in. The packaging comes in this funky yet elegant turquoise packaging with gold writing. I also love the fact that the top is an easy pump which allows you to squeeze a tiny amount into your hands for application.
Even though the brand's website says it is a non burning formula, we have been habituated since childhood not to get anything termed shampoo anywhere near our eyes. So, I was careful while applying.
Next, let's have a quick glance at the top ingredients used- Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate to give you that foamy texture, lactic acid, cocamidopropyl betaine, panthenol, sodium benzoate, parfum, and so on.
I also love how the product gives a nice lightweight, bubbly foam texture with a delightful pleasant scent.
Overall, this gentle shampoo left my lashes feeling clean as the foam washed away all the dirt and impurities. Moreover, I found there was less itching in my eyes after using this product.
Pros and Cons Of The Lashbox Los Angeles Bubble Lash Shampoo
What I liked-

What I disliked-
- In the long run, may cause lashes to fall
- Contains fragrance which could be toxic
How to Use The Lashbox Los Angeles Bubble Lash Shampoo
As I applied a coin-sized amount of the foam which actually looks like the lather of a shampoo along the length of my lashes, I felt the mascara spreading all over (do not worry, I was watching it from my other eye).
I happily rinsed it away with cool water, and found that it did a wonderful job of removing my makeup thoroughly, leaving nothing on my towel. Also, I felt no greasiness around my eyes. Remember, you can dry the wet lash using a cotton pad or towel
You can finish off this routine by brushing your long lashes into place and enjoy the fluffiest and cleanest lashes, flaunt them around!
Pro tip: Once you start, please make sure you are cleaning your lashes regularly or else it is a lot harder to get a clean lash line after all the moisture and impurities have already occurred.

Summary
The million dollar question is whether it did its job of removing my mascara more efficiently than a typical eye-remover? Surprisingly, yes.
If you invest in a great and well-formulated lash cleanser, if you are someone who loves applying a lot of makeup for work or exercise.
What happens is that you will tend to have an oiler skin which will have more dirt and residue in your lashes.
Make sure you rinse off all the residual film on your lashes and take care around your eyes.
Are they super necessary, though? Well, honestly it depends if you are willing to invest in such things, then go for it!
