Water/Aqua/H20
Water in most hair care products (and other cosmetics) is the chief component of the formula as it’s the solvent which dissolves all the other ingredients.
The water used in hair care products is sterile and deionized. This means there are no minerals in this water as they can interfere with the other ingredients.
Water-based hair products, especially conditioners are lighter, spread easily and help hydrate your hair if there are humectants (like glycerin, etc.) present in the formula.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Cocamidopropyl Betaine or CAPB is a type of cleanser that is derived from coconut oil.
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, it’s often used in shampoos in place of harsh surfactants like Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Both of which can strip hair dye, remove moisture and irritate scalp skin.
CAPB however is milder and gentler and even has moisturizing properties.
Most sulfate-free shampoos do not lather well or clean hair very thoroughly but as this shampoo contains this natural cleanser, it’s very good for removing grease and dirt from deep within your scalp without stripping it of moisture.

Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate
No, don’t get surprised. This ingredient is a “sulfonate” ; it’s not the same as sulfates.
Yes, it’s a surfactant. But it’s much milder and doesn’t remove scalp’s natural oil or hair dye pigments from hair like sulfates do.
It’s also an emulsifying agent and adds a lot of foam to the shampoo making it easier to use.
I do feel like the surfactant is much better than sulfates. However, it’s still highly cleansing and might have a drying effect on scalps that are already dry or sensitive.
Keratin Amino Acids
Keratin helps keep the hair away from damage like hair fall and breakage. It can help keep the hair moisturized and reduce frizz and dryness. Hydrolyzed keratin can increase hair elasticity and reduce hair breakage. It makes the hair feel smooth and lustrous.

Panthenol
Panthenol is a fantastic anti-inflammatory and soothing agent.
According to a study, panthenol is also supposed to prevent transepidermal water loss. So in layman’s terms it reduces moisture loss from hair and skin cells. (Camargo, Flávio B Jr et al. “Skin moisturizing effects of panthenol-based formulations.” Journal of cosmetic science vol. 62,4 (2011): 361-70.)
Another study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information confirms that panthenol is also an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces redness and irritation on the scalp.
There is also research that suggests that panthenol can help reduce thinning of hair.

L’anza Healing Volume Thickening Shampoo Review
Let me start off with telling you whether it worked or not. Did it? Yes, it absolutely did! This shampoo was the perfect one for me! It finally gave my bodiless fine hair volume like never before.
My hair started looking fuller and I also noticed a good increase in my hair thickness, something that my hair hadn’t experienced in years.
This shampoo works as a good cleanser for the scalp and hair and it really makes the scalp and hair feel so fresh once it is washed.
It is unscented, so it has absolutely no fragrance and this is something I actually liked because I am sensitive to fragrances.
My hair is also color-treated, so I am always watchful of the products I use because I do not want my expensive color-treatments to fade due to the shampoo I use. Well, this shampoo did not fade my hair color drastically at all.
This paraben and sulfate-free shampoo is gentle on the scalp and hair and does not weigh down the hair, but gives it a super enhanced volume.
I have been using this shampoo for three months now and I can truly say that the results I am seeing in my hair are amazing. I actually started noticing the results within just the first month of using this shampoo.
I only tried the shampoo and did not buy the L’anza conditioner along with it. I just used my old conditioner and it worked just fine with this shampoo.
I paid $21.63 for a 300 ml (10.1 Fl.oz.) bottle of shampoo, which I honestly think was overpriced, but this shampoo was totally worth it. Besides, I didn’t have to use too much shampoo each time (even though I have long hair), as little actually goes a long way!

Should I Use the Lanza Thickening Conditioner With This Shampoo?
Using this shampoo is super simple as it is a cleansing shampoo and can be used just like any other one.
You will first need to wet your hair well with plain lukewarm water. Then take just a pea-sized amount of this shampoo into your palm, rub your palms together and then apply this shampoo evenly all over your scalp and hair, making sure you’ve touched upon your roots to the tip.
Then, for the best effects, leaving this shampoo in for a few minutes would be ideal as it can soak into the hair strands and give you better results.
Rinse off with lukewarm water after a couple of minutes and then you can use the L’anza conditioner (recommended) or any other conditioner of your choice to condition your hair (well, like I did).
Lastly, I would like to give you guys a personal tip of mine and that is use lukewarm water when you first wet your hair (so that the hair cuticles open up and absorb the shampoo).
Then, rinse off your conditioner with cool or cold water, so that the conditioner seals in the moisture into the hair strands. So I hope you try it guys (and you can thank me later!).
