What is hair plopping for 4C hair?
Plopping is a method used to dry the hair by using an old cotton t-shirt or preferably a microfiber towel to wet curly hair. The “plop” is the self-contained mould formed using the cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel.
This method is used on 4C curls to help give them more definition and reduce frizziness. This method of drying the hair can also help reduce hair breakage and hair loss due to damage.

How I rated these hair towels
On a scale of 1 – 5, I rated these hair towels based on a few parameters that I chose to thereby give the reader a better and more clarified review on the concerned product.
The parameters I used to rate them:
Absorbency:
I usually use a towel to get rid of the excess water from my curls before letting my hair air dry or before I blow dry it. So thus, I checked how absorbent the towel is.
Additional benefits:
Since these are towels specifically designed for drying the hair and can suit 4C hair well, I also checked whether they can help get rid of frizz and reduce hair damage like breakage and hair loss.
Towel weight:
When the hair is just washed, the roots are at their weakest and therefore, the lighter the hair towel, the better. So, I considered the weight of the towel as well.
AQUIS Microfiber Hair Towel
Price: $17.41
So before I started using this towel, I used to use a regular cotton bath towel to dry my hair. Due to this, my hair experienced a lot of breakage and also became frizzy over the years.
After using this towel, I noticed that it dried my hair pretty quickly, as it is super absorbent. It also reduced my frizz to a large extent. My hair fall as well reduced.
The towel is large in size, but light in weight, which is a good thing. So, it will even suit people with long hair. But what I didn’t like was the fact that this towel didn’t have any hook or button and once wrapped around the hair, it would often tend to tilt or fall with head movements.
This was my first buy of a microfiber towel and I must say it was quite a good purchase, as it was also made of good quality microfiber, but I found it a little overpriced just for one piece.
Pros:
· Helps reduce frizziness and hair loss due to breakage.
· The towel is light in weight.
· Made of superior quality material.
Cons:
· Slightly overpriced compared to other such towels.
· Doesn’t have a hook and the towel unwraps upon head movement.
My Ratings:
Absorbency: 4.4/5
Additional benefits: 4.5/5
Towel weight: 4.5/5

Luxe Beauty Essentials Microfiber Hair Towel
Price: $14.97
This towel comes in two sizes and since I have medium length hair, I chose the larger sized towel.
This is a microfiber towel and has very good absorbency. So even if the hair is excessively wet, it will dry it way quicker than a regular cotton towel.
It is light in weight and is simple and convenient to use. What I liked is that it comes with a loop and therefore once it is wrapped around the head, you can use the loop to hold the towel in place so it doesn’t tilt or fall off. Also, I found that the towel dries up very fast once I’m done using it.
What I noticed is that it not just reduced my frizz, but made my curls look more defined.
I felt like this piece was totally worth the price.
Pros:
· Comes in two sizes for different hair lengths.
· Made of good quality microfiber.
· The towel is light in weight and is easy to use.
· The towel is absorbent and also dries up quickly after use.
· Helps reduce frizziness and makes curls look more defined.
· Comes with a loop to hold the towel in place once wrapped around the head.
· Relatively reasonable in price.

HOPESHINE Hair Towel Twist
Price: $14.99
Firstly, this product comes in a set of 3 towels for the price, which I found was super reasonable. Also, as for the towel, it is very lightweight, soft to touch and is made from good quality material as well.
What I really liked is that it is super easy to use and it comes with a button and elastic for fastening the wrapped towel which makes it very convenient to dry the hair without any hassle.
But in terms of its absorbency, I wouldn’t say it is great, I’d just say it is average as it doesn’t dry my hair as fast as my other hair towels did. But it does get rid of the excessive water soon enough.
Overall, it did help reduce the frizziness on my hair and also reduced hair loss due to breakage, considerably.
Pros:
· Very lightweight towels.
· Easy to use and comes with a button cum elastic for fastening on the head.
· Helps reduce frizz and hair loss due to hair breakage.
· Reasonably priced for a set of three pieces.
· The towels are soft to touch and made from good quality material.

Turbie Twist Microfiber Towel
Price: $26.06
So to start off, this product comes as a set of 4 towels, which I did find reasonable for the price. These towels are really light in weight and are not heavy on the head when wrapped up.
It is easy to use and comes with a loop twisted end with an elastic band to secure the towel once it wraps up the hair. It made my curls get more definition, while it did help reduce frizz and hair breakage.
As for the absorbency of this towel, I didn’t find it very powerful, maybe because the fabric contains more polyester than polyamide (microfiber).
What I didn’t like is that the size isn’t suitable for those with longer hair lengths as the length of the towel will not be sufficient.
Pros:
· The towel is light in weight and doesn’t feel heavy on the head.
· It is easy to use and fasten on the head.
· Helps reduce frizz and hair breakage.
· Reasonably priced for a pack of 4 towels.
Cons:
· The absorbency isn’t great, as the fabric is majorly polyester.
· It isn’t suitable for people with longer hair lengths.
My Ratings:
Absorbency: 3.8/5
Additional benefits: 4.2/5
Towel weight: 4.5/5
YoulerTex Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap
Price: $11.01
This is one of the best hair towels I have used till date! Even though it is majorly made up of polyester, it is still super absorbent and dries the hair up quickly.
Also, it is really very easy to use and my hair fits into it perfectly. I simply have to get my hair in, twist and fasten and it stays that way for however long I want it to and this includes me having slept with it on overnight as well (as recommended by someone) and it really gave my curls a renewed look!
It is really light in weight and thus it doesn’t stand heavy on the head and can be left on for long hours without the worry of the hair strands snagging and breaking off.
Using this towel has helped reduce the frizziness on my hair a lot. Overall, great product!
Pros:
· The towel is lightweight and can be left on for long hours (even overnight for better defined curls).
· Has a good absorbency power.
· It is easy to use and secures well on the head once fastened.
· It helps reduce frizz and prevents hair breakage.
· Very reasonably priced for a set of 2 towels.
Cons:
None.
