Water/Aqua/H20
Water in most hair care products (and other cosmetics) is the chief component of the formula as it’s the solvent which dissolves all the other ingredients.
The water used in hair care products is sterile and deionized. This means there are no minerals in this water as they can interfere with the other ingredients.
Water-based hair products, especially conditioners are lighter, spread easily and help hydrate your hair if there are humectants (like glycerin, etc.) present in the formula.
Glycerin
Glycerin is used in shampoos to act as a humectant. These attract moisture to your strands, hydrating them and then preventing the moisture from escaping.
This makes glycerin an excellent ingredient to use on low porosity hair, dehydrated hair, damaged hair, etc.
Hydrated hair is generally more elastic and less prone to breakage, hence glycerin helps reduce hair fall this way.
Panthenol
Panthenol is a fantastic anti-inflammatory and soothing agent.
According to a study, panthenol is also supposed to prevent transepidermal water loss. So in layman’s terms it reduces moisture loss from hair and skin cells.
Another study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information confirms that panthenol is also an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces redness and irritation on the scalp.
There is also research that suggests that panthenol can help reduce thinning of hair.
Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera)
Coconut oil is one that is rich in nutrients that can help nourish the hair from within. When coconut oil enters into the hair follicles, it can strengthen the hair follicles and prevent hair fall.
Using coconut oil infused shampoo on the hair can help make the hair feel soft and smooth, thereby acting like a hair conditioning agent and prevent the hair from becoming dry. It can help reduce hair damage like breakage, split ends and frizziness.
Our hair is made up of a protein called keratin and over time, it gets naturally depleted. Coconut oil can help reduce and prevent this loss of protein from our hair.
Coconut oil can also help reduce scalp conditions like dandruff and flaking and prevent scalp dryness and itchiness, as it has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Argan Oil
Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan fruit and is one of the most expensive oils in the world. It is rich in several vitamins including E, B5 and A and also contains omega-3 fatty acids that are a powerful group of antioxidants.
It is also lightweight and gets absorbed by the hair cuticle very easily, making it excellent for all hair types and for low porosity hair.
These ingredients can help nourish hair, reduce frizz and control breakage by smoothing out hair cuticles. It also helps in the development of hair collagen and keratin protein.
My Review of the Give Me Cosmetics Shampoo
When I usually try out new products, I make sure to do some research on the internet and find out more about the product I plan to buy.
But this time round, I had to try out a product I only knew briefly, very briefly!
Yes, all I knew about this product was from its product label, as I did not find this product anywhere online. So I decided to just give it a shot and check it out for myself.
Well, this shampoo worked pretty well as a cleansing shampoo. My scalp and hair did feel rather fresh after each wash.
I have very dry and frizzy hair and what I really liked are the ingredients of this shampoo. The argan oil, coconut oil and macadamia nut oil worked as a perfect combination to make my hair feel super soft and smooth.
Yes, it absolutely improved my hair texture like never before! So, undoubtedly this shampoo surpassed my expectations!
I bought this shampoo along with the Give Me Conditioner and Give Me Argan Oil Hair Mask.
So basically, I used the hair mask first, let it sit for a while in my hair and then washed it off with the shampoo and conditioner.
Well, as a combination, this hair mask, shampoo and conditioner kit worked super effectively on my hair. So I would honestly recommend anyone trying this product to use it as the whole kit for the best effects.
The texture of this shampoo is quite thick (almost like conditioner consistency), which lathers really well when applied to wet hair. The conditioner improves hair texture and doesn’t weigh down the hair.
The shampoo had a very mild fragrance and this is something I liked, as I am someone who is sensitive to harsh scents.
Overall, great product and definitely worth a buy for those with dry and frizzy hair problems.
