Are you looking for shampoos with honey? Read on to find out all about it and what ingredients are used in this shampoo.
As someone who has had several years of colour-treatments and done heat treatments, my hair has become dry and damaged over the years.
Even though it was my own doing, I feel awful about how my hair is now and had to do something about it!
So that’s when I started looking for remedies for “dry” hair and guess what, all my searches lead to this one ingredient – honey!
It seemed to have all the possible benefits to treat dry and damaged hair from being a natural emollient, to being able to reduce frizz, soften the hair, repair the hair and treat hair damage.
Hence, I decided to try using honey on my hair, but in the form of my shampoo (to save my time and effort, of course).
I tried out 6 different types of shampoos that contained honey as its main ingredient and here is my review!

When it comes to hair care, a good conditioner is essential, and the Gisou Honey Conditioner has quickly become one of my favorites. The first thing that struck me was the consistency – it's rich and creamy, and a little goes a long way.

How I Tested These Shampoos and Rated Them?
I am big on testing and reviewing products for hair care and I make sure to review my products based on parameters and rate them on a scale of 1 – 5, so that the readers will have a fair idea of the product they may buy.
Here are the parameters I chose:
- Effectiveness on the hair
How well it worked on my dry hair and whether it made my hair feel moisturized, soft and smooth.
- Gentleness on the scalp and hair
This aspect tests how gentle the shampoo felt on my hair and scalp, also considering whether it contained harsh chemicals like sulfates, parabens etc.
- Fragrance
I am someone who detests harsh fragrances. So I look out for shampoos that smell mild, giving my hair a subtle smell when it dries.
Benefits of using honey shampoos for hair
Honey shampoos have gained popularity in recent years due to their potential benefits for hair health. While scientific research on the specific effects of honey shampoos is somewhat limited, honey is known to contain several properties that can be beneficial for hair. Here are some potential benefits of using honey shampoos for your hair:
- Moisturizing: Honey is a natural humectant, which means it can attract and retain moisture. When used in shampoos, it can help moisturize the hair and prevent dryness, making it particularly useful for individuals with dry or damaged hair.
- Softening: The natural sugars in honey can help soften the hair, making it more manageable and less prone to tangles. This can result in smoother, shinier hair.
- Hair Growth: Some people believe that honey can stimulate hair growth when used in shampoos or as a hair mask. While more research is needed to confirm this, the improved hair health and reduced breakage associated with honey may indirectly promote hair growth.
- Scalp Health: Honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help maintain a healthy scalp. A healthy scalp is essential for overall hair health and can potentially reduce dandruff and itchiness.
- Strengthening: Honey is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can help strengthen hair strands. Stronger hair is less prone to breakage and split ends.
- Natural Shine: Honey can enhance the natural shine of your hair, leaving it looking lustrous and healthy.
- Reduces Frizz: The moisturizing properties of honey can help reduce frizz and tame flyaway hair, resulting in a smoother and more polished appearance.
- Color Preservation: Honey may help preserve hair color for those who dye their hair. Its natural antioxidants can protect hair from damage caused by environmental factors.
- Gentle Cleansing: Honey shampoos are often gentle on the hair and scalp, making them suitable for individuals with sensitive skin or those looking for a natural alternative to harsher chemical shampoos.
- Natural Ingredients: Honey shampoos often contain fewer synthetic chemicals and preservatives, which can be appealing to those who prefer natural hair care products.
