How To Remove Upper Lip Hair at Home Naturally: 4 Easy Remedies

Here are some tips on how to remove upper lip hair at home naturally. Check out these options including sugaring, threading, natural scrubs and more.

When it comes to removing upper lip hair, only a limited number of options come to mind as skin there can be sensitive.

People either opt for threading or waxing to get rid of those pesky hairs. Some also shave it off themselves.

But all these methods can cause a lot of pain and lead to thick ingrown hair. Not to mention that these methods can also severely irritate the skin on the upper lips.

So read on to find some remedies to achieve that smooth hairless skin on the upper lip that are completely natural and can be done with the ingredients present right under your roof.

How To Remove Upper Lip Hair at Home Naturally?

Natural methods for removing upper lip hair at home include using a paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. This paste, when applied and removed, can act like a gentle wax. Another method is to create a paste with turmeric and milk, which can weaken the hair over time with repeated use. Both methods involve applying the paste to the upper lip area, allowing it to dry, and then gently rubbing or peeling it off, pulling the hair with it. These natural remedies may require consistent application over time to see a reduction in hair growth. Remember to patch test any mixture to avoid skin irritation.

Key Takeaways:

  • Use a paste of sugar, lemon, and water or the Chickpea Method with wheat flour, chickpea powder, rosewater or milk, and coconut oil for natural hair removal on the upper lip.
  • Consider sugaring by boiling chamomile tea bags, adding sugar, lemon, and applying the cooled mixture, or try the Milk and Turmeric Mix with turmeric and raw milk for a paste, allowing it to dry and then rubbing it off.
  • Opt for the Gelatin Method by mixing unflavored gelatin, raw milk, and lavender essential oil (optional), warming the mixture, applying, allowing it to dry, and then peeling it off.
  • These natural methods provide alternatives to commercial hair removal techniques and may lead to reduced hair growth with consistent use.

The Chickpea Method

How To Remove Upper Lip Hair at Home Naturally

This is one of my favourite ways to remove my facial hair, be it on my upper lips or those annoying sideburns.

The great thing about this method is that it not only does it remove hair but over time I’ve come to notice that it also reduces hair growth when used consistently.

Since all the ingredients are completely natural, this mix can be used regularly without causing any damage to the skin.

I would recommend using it 2 or 3 times a week when you’re initially starting this method as it might not remove all the hair in one go, or use it until the desired result is achieved.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tsp wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp chickpea powder
  • 1 and a 1/2 tsp Rosewater or Raw Milk
  • 3-4 drops of Coconut oil
  • A bowl

Pour all your ingredients into the bowl and mix it thoroughly. The aim is to create a thick paste, so make sure not to make it thin or too thick.

After you’ve made the mix, apply it to your upper lip area in a downward motion so that it mimics the hair growth pattern. Cover the whole area with consistent application throughout. Now, wait for it to dry completely.

Once it is dry, rub the paste in singular upward motions against the hair growth pattern – this will remove the hair.

Don’t even think of just washing it off because it would completely waste the mix and you won’t get any results.

As mentioned previously, you might not find all the hair removed in just the first application but don’t fret.

Just use the same mix a day after and so on, until the area is devoid of any hair. You can also use it as a face mask and it would help perk up your skin right away.

Sugaring

Sugaring is one of the most ancient methods when it comes to hair removal. Before modern-day waxing existed, this has been used since 1900 BC in Persia – talk about granny’s methods!

This hair removal method has stood the test of time only because of its effectiveness.

Not to mention, it is extremely easy to make and use, and even a single application is enough to get hair-free skin, unlike most other natural methods for upper lip hair removal.

The result of sugaring can easily rival those of more common methods such as threading and waxing, that’s how powerful this mix is!

Here’s what you need:

  • 4 Chamomile Tea Bags
  • 2 cups of Sugar
  • ¼ cup Lemon Juice
  • 1 Popsicle Stick
  • 1 Cotton Waxing Strip
  • A Saucepan
  • A Bowl

Put all the chamomile tea bags in the saucepan and add water. Let it boil for 2 minutes, then remove it from the stove and let it cool down for approximately 30 minutes.

Afterwards, remove around ¼ of the tea along with the tea bags. Now add the lemon juice and the sugar to the tea and mix them thoroughly.

Bring this mixture to a boil and let it reduce for 3-4 minutes. Once that is done, put the mix in the bowl and let it cool down completely.

This should give a sticky, wax-like mix. It is important to let this mixture cool down completely before application because if it is applied when it’s warm, it can cause burns.

Using the Popsicle stick, apply the cool mix to your upper lip area in a downward motion. Now press the waxing strip on the area and hold it there for 5 to 10 seconds.

Just like waxing, pull the strip away in the direction against the hair growth in a quick motion.

This should ideally remove all the hair in one go but if not, then apply the mix again and follow the same procedure.

Make sure not to do it more than 2 times on your first application as it might irritate the skin. If even 2 applications do not give you the desired results, wait for a few days and repeat the process.

Milk and Turmeric Mix

This particular method has been used in Indian tradition for many centuries to remove facial hair.

I would have not known about this method if not for my mom telling me about it. It has been passed down to her from her mother!

This is a common method among a lot of Indian households because it works wonders and also has a positive impact on your skin.

When used as a face mask, this mix can brighten up the skin and also help in removing deep scars over time.

I love this method because this 2 ingredient mix is extremely simple yet also effective at the same time. It also gets the work done in minimal time.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tsp of Turmeric
  • 1tsp of Raw Milk
  • A Bowl
  • A popsicle stick (optional)

Combine both the ingredients in the bowl and mix thoroughly to create a paste.

Again, as mentioned in a previous method, make sure not to create a thin paste that is flimsy or too thick a paste that won’t even apply properly.

Once the mix is created, apply it to your upper lip area gently with your fingers in a downward motion along the hair growth pattern.

You can also use a popsicle stick for the same. I prefer applying the mix with my fingers because this way I can easily cover the hairs that are in small crevices around the nose.

The paste should dry in about 20 minutes but if not, wait until it is completely dry.

Now that the paste is completely dry, rub it away with your fingers in an upward motion i.e. opposite to the hair growth. Finish by washing the area with cold water.

With Gelatin

This is one of those methods of upper lip hair removal that almost nobody knows about. It is a shame because this method works better than any other I’ve ever tried.

The results you get in the very first application of this method supersede the result you get from waxing.

It might sound too good to be true but I’ve not gone back to the salon even once since I tried this method.

When compared to other natural methods, this doesn’t require more than one application so it gives you quick and effective results.

I’ve also noticed that my facial hair growth has become more sparse ever since I started using this.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tsp of Unflavoured Gelatin
  • 1 tsp of Raw Milk
  • 1 tsp of Lavender Essential Oil (Optional)
  • A Microwave-safe Bowl
  • A Popsicle

Combine all the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly to create a paste. Microwave the mixture on high heat for around 12 seconds.

Afterwards, take the bowl out and let the mixture cool until it is warm. Make sure to apply the mixture while it is still warm because once it is cold, you won’t be able to apply it to your skin. Also, ensure that the mixture is not hot as it can burn you.

Use the popsicle to apply the mix in a downward motion and let it dry completely. Now, slowly peel it in an upward motion against the hair growth pattern.

Voila, you have removed your upper lip hair completely. It is also safe to use this mix to remove facial hair other than upper lips.
